Who We Are

We are the Middle Island United Church of Christ. This congregation was formed in 1982 as a part of the larger UCC (United Church of Christ) and as a seed church from other UCC churches in our area. The community has been enriched by the dedication of this small congregation to helping people in need.

After many years of trying to design and build a new church which was very expensive, the congregation voted to sell the property at 645 Middle Country Road and purchase the 184 year old historic church and 2 additional buildings at 271 Middle Country Road. As of Aug. 31, 2009, MIUCC owns the 1.2 acres at 271 Middle Country Road. A major restoration project is underway to preserve the historic church. The historic church allows the growth of the important minstries that MIUCC has provided to the community. Contributions to the church buildng fund are greatly appreciated.

The church is also part of the larger UCC mission participating in activities such as Church World Service Outreach, regional and state conferences, and youth events. Each congregation operates independently of the parent UCC organization. Together we are part of God’s larger mission in the world.

Outreach and Mission

The church has a food pantry that feeds many people each week. It also has a soup kitchen sponsored by the Interfaith Nutrition Network. The church has been a partner in a mentoring program at a local elementary school. More volunteers are needed now.
Christian Education

Enrollment is always open. We bring young adults and children into the family of Christ and teach them His love. Young adults who undergo confirmation studies are guided into church membership and church government. Youth and adults volunteer at mission camps in the summer. Sign up for the free Summer Vacation Bible School.

Adult Bible studies and retreats are enjoyed through the year.
